The Water of Life Pt 1

There is a song in the church, that goes, “there is a river of life flowing out of me. It makes the lame to walk and the blind to see. It opens prisons doors and sets the captives free. There is a river of life flowing out of me.”

Water is essential to life. Without water, life is not possible. We find various passages pertaining to water in the scriptures. It is not a coincidence but on purpose. Water is sometimes used in the scriptures as a symbol for various things. Sometimes, harmful things, and other times, helpful things. Water can rage like a flood or refresh like a cool drink in a dry place.

For example, in Revelation 12:15 – The serpent casts water out of his mouth as a flood to overwhelm his enemies. In another passage (Matthew 13:47), we find water as part of a parable for fishing while using a net. It would seem to indicate that the fish are different types of souls, the net is the gospel message, and the sea represents the world.

Still, in yet another place, water can symbolize the word of God, like in Ephesians 5:26. Water can be a symbol of something good or holy. Like the Holy Spirit, as in the book of Isaiah 44:3. Here, the symbol of water seems to indicate a picture of the Holy Spirit. Let’s focus on the Holy Spirit as a symbol of water in the bible. Using this symbol, we can apply it to a statement Jesus made.

In Luke 5:4, Jesus commands the disciples to launch out into the deep. Now, even though he was literally telling them to go and fish in the deeper part of the sea, we will use the sea (which is water) to represent the Holy Spirit. This is the same symbol we just mentioned from Isaiah 44:3.

By using this analogy, we can measure our relationship with the Holy Spirit. By how deep or shallow we are in the water. Meaning how close are we to God. Now and then, it is good to test yourself on how close one’s relationship is with the Holy Ghost.

Take a moment and challenge yourself. Evaluate your relationship with the Spirit. Jesus left the Holy Spirit in his place. Because he went to be with the Father. Thereby giving the Holy Ghost the authority to lead the church and establish a link to the Father and the Son. This can be found in statements made in John 14:16 and John 16:13. We pray to the Father and Son, which is acceptable, according to the word of God. However, the Spirit enlightens our eyes to the truths of God’s Word. If water is essential for physical life, then the Spirit is essential for spiritual life. And like water in a river or a sea, the deeper we go, the greater our relationship with God becomes.

We will stop here for now and pick up on part two, which is coming soon. For now, may you be above and not beneath. May you be the head and not the tail. God grants you the ability to be the lender and not the borrower.

Until next time. Maranatha

In his service,

Bro. K

What Is Kingdom Keys?

Kingdom Keys Monthly will be used to provide inspiring scriptures that will teach, comfort and satisfy the soul while edifying the spirit. It is our hope that it will both bless and at times challenge the believer. There may also be testimonies at times as well. Let the reader be aware, that the Pastor may not always be the one to provide the monthly posts, as I was taught to share the ministry and blessings of the kingdom.

As it is written in Proverbs 11:14 (KJV partial quote) “In a Multitude of counsel there is Safety”.

With that being said, we will proceed to get the ball rolling.

May the Lord richly bless you.
